While her day job involves scoring clutch threes and occasionally making match-winning blocks (Shoutout to Leïla Lacan), Sabrina Ionescu likes to cool off on a different kind of court. And that brought her to the Flushing Meadows, where the US Open, the last Grand Slam of the year, is in full swing.
After the New York Liberty’s hard-fought 81-79 win over the Connecticut Sun, where she spared the returning Breanna Stewart’s blushes with a last-ditch block (Fun fact: She averages a meager 0.4 blocks per match), Ionescu showed up at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center, supporting her good friend, Coco Gauff, in her matchup against the Australian, Ajla Tomljanović
The US Open even gave a special shoutout to the Liberty star and shared a video of her arrival. “Good to have one of the best shooters in the game, @sabrina_i20, pulling up to the US Open,” read the post on their social media. Ionescu was all smiles while posing for photos along with her husband, NFL player Hroniss Grasu. Sabrina has always been a tennis buff, and her attendance at one of the biggest tournaments of the year has drawn eyeballs from the WNBA, as the league’s account commented, “Heyyyy @sabrina_i 👋🔥” Along with the WNBA, the fans flooded the comments section, showing love and admiration for one of W’s biggest stars.
