Caitlin Clark was clearly irked about the talk around her injury. “I actually went back and looked because of all these narratives that are going crazy online about when I told my mom I wasn’t going to play the game. 4:47, you guys found out at 5:20. So one of the most important people of my life found out 40 minutes before you guys,” she said ahead of the Golden State Valkyries clash. And when the game arrived, that tension followed Clark on the court as she was nearly involved in a scuffle.

It was the final play of the first half. Clark drove to the basket before kicking it out to Lexie Hull. She fired off a corner three, which rimmed out, leaving Clark competing with Janelle Salaun for the rebound. It fell to Salaun and Clark tried to swat it out, drawing an elbow from Salaun. Clark and Salaun exchanged some words and had to be separated by their respective teammates.
The clash immediately drew a response from the referees, who adjudged a technical to both Salaun and Clark. This was not the first technical for Clark, as she was whistled for a technical foul against the Los Angeles Sparks when she argued with the referees.
She will be fined $500 according to the new CBA since it’s only the second foul for Clark. But she moves a step closer to a $1000 fine. From the fourth technical, the players are penalized $1,000 with a warning letter from the league issued after the fifth technical.

But that did not stop Clark from continuing her aggression. The temperatures in the game remained high as Clark looked disappointed with the referees. After being charged with a personal foul in the second quarter, Clark argued with the referees. “That’s the same call. call it over there,” Clark was caught saying.
Then, she hit a three over Tiffany Hayes in the third quarter and once again had some words with the Valkyries as Myisha Hines Allen got between them to cool things down. In the fourth quarter, Clark screened off Tiffany Hayes. The Valkyries’ guard went down. It was deemed to be a foul on Caitlin Clark despite protests from the point guard. That means Clark will pay another $500 as a fine for her flagrant.
But that only fired her up as Clark finished with 22 points and 9 assists in the 90-82 win. It was Indiana Fever’s first win over the 2025 expansion team. The heat was infectious as even Lexie Hull got into a physical tussle, leading to a review.
After Caitlin Clark’s Technical, Lexie Hull Reviewed For A Potential Hostile Play Twice
Lexie Hull’s mother was surprised with her daughter’s technical against the Wings. “This is the first time I have ever seen her act that way towards a ref. 🤦♀️🤦♀️. Now she gets to pay 💰 for it. 😬😬,” Jaime Hull wrote. It was just her second technical, with the first coming from the bench last year. Now, Hull has been whistled for her third. But Hull was involved in some physical basketball as she was reviewed for a possible hostile play.
With a little more than 2 minutes into the third quarter, Hull was competing for the ball with Gabby Williams. In a scrappy play, Hull fell towards the ground and swung her elbows towards WIlliams’ head. The play was reviewed by the referees for a possible flagrant foul but it was kept to a technical. Hull will also dish out another $500 to the league, like Caitlin Clark.
The physicality did not stop as another play involving Hull with Hayes was reviewed but ultimately kept to a jump ball. Despite being involved in multiple such plays last year, Hull stood out as someone without any technical or even flagrant fouls. But, That was just the nature of the game as the two teams kept playing some physical basketball.
