Police say the Atlanta linebacker allegedly pursued Rickea Jackson’s vehicle, struck it repeatedly, and tried to stop her from reaching the Doral Police Department, where the report was later filed.
As a result, Pearce now faces five felony charges which includes, “two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, one count of aggravated stalking, fleeing and eluding police officers, aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, and resisting an officer without violence to his person.” A court has also issued a pretrial conditional stay-away order involving Jackson.
WNBA player Rickea Jackson’s attorneys filed a court notice Tuesday in Miami-Dade (Florida) County saying that she is “willing to testify” against Atlanta Falcons player James Pearce Jr. if the domestic violence charges against him go to trial, according to a document.

New details have surfaced in the case involving James Pearce Jr., and according to ESPN, Rickea Jackson is prepared to fully cooperate if the domestic violence charges move forward to trial.
Jackson’s legal team requested that the court dedicate “all possible resources and personnel” to the matter in order to resolve it “as soon as practicable” and secure justice for her and the State of Florida.
The 22-year-old was released Sunday on $20,500 bond, and his attorneys said Pearce “maintains his innocence and urges the public to understand that while allegations can shape a narrative, they are hardly the full story.” Meanwhile, the Atlanta Falcons also released a statement saying they are “gathering more information.”
Pearce’s rookie season included 26 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and a third-place finish in AP Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. Drafted 26th overall out of Tennessee after back-to-back first-team All-SEC honors, his NFL future is now under scrutiny.
Rickea Jackson has also been forced to make a difficult career decision following the incident.
Jackson Pulls Out of Unrivaled’s One-on-One Tournament
On February 11, Unrivaled paused its regular season to stage what could end up more entertaining than any upcoming All-Star Weekend event if last year’s trends hold. Thirty-two of the best players were set to compete for a $200,000 first-place prize in the one-on-one tournament, but one was notably absent.
That player was Rickea Jackson. She had been set to face Kahleah Copper in the first round, but Unrivaled announced a day earlier that she would not participate, a decision that is understandable given the circumstances. For now, it also remains unclear whether she will return to 3-on-3 action with the Breeze BC.
The women’s basketball world continues to rally behind Rickea Jackson, hoping for her swift return to the court and for justice to be served.
