The conversation is right back to the league MVP following the World Cup break, and the discourse among fans has grown even more exponentially after FanDuel released its updated MVP odds. While four-time MVP A’ja Wilson is once again leading the race, the Caitlin Clark-Olivia Miles rivalry is taken up another notch.

This is because FanDuel has ranked the Minnesota Lynx rookie second, with +800 odds. And while Clark is third, the gap is an enormous +3700 between her and Miles. Naturally, CC fans on social media have not taken Miles being above the Indiana Fever star lightly.
“Please do tell me how Olivia Miles is ahead of Caitlin Clark? Caitlin Clark leads in every offensive stat against Olivia Miles. CC generated more points than Olivia in PTS/AST combined, and it’s not even close.”
If we go by statistics, the Lynx star is nowhere to be found in the Top 5 of any of the key categories. Miles is averaging 19.7 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game. But Clark is currently third in points with 22.5, first in assists with 8.4, and fourth in three-pointers made with 2.9. As for Wilson, she is first in points with 26.0, third in rebounds with 9.4, and again first in blocks with 2.0.
“Olivia Miles isn’t even close to what Caitlin’s averaging. God, the bias in this stupid League. Caitlin Clark is the best women’s basketball player,” another Clark fan pointed to statistics to differentiate between the two.
One fan believes the actual MVP race is between Caitlin Clark and A’ja Wilson, with Olivia Miles being third but nowhere near the level of the first two. “The real fans of the @WNBA know the MVP race is down to Wilson & Clark…miles is a long distance 3rd place and everyone that follows after her has a lot of distance to make up.”
One netizen claims neither Wilson nor Miles should be above the Fever star, who should be the one receiving her first MVP title this season. Clark has been phenomenal for head coach Stephanie White’s side, playing the anchor role while having elite chemistry with both Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston.

Meanwhile, one fan was so heated about Clark being ranked third that they want her to be playing in Europe instead, adding that the WNBA would likely be on a downward trajectory should the Fever star actually leave. “That’s why no one takes women’s basketball seriously. I pray Caitlin goes to Europe so the WNBA can fail.”
CC was the cornerstone of the WNBA’s major boom in 2024, as she helped break viewership records following a legendary Rookie of the Year campaign.
However, one fan stated that Olivia Miles should stand alone at the top. “Miles at 2 is a joke and she’s carrying!”
Ahead of the new season, the Lynx were not predicted to be one of the top teams due to Napheesa Collier’s absence. But Miles took the matter into her own hands and surprised the WNBA world with one of the best rookie campaigns in recent memory, and is now one of the leaders of head coach Cheryl Reeve’s side, who are sitting at the top with a 31-9 record. Miles now has the opportunity to become the first player since Candace Parker in 2008 to potentially win both the ROTY and the MVP award in the same season.
Until the actual MVP results are announced, the Clark-Miles discourse is sure to continue. While no one will bat an eye if A’ja Wilson wins her fifth MVP, we can expect some wildfire to spread across social media if either Clark or Miles wins the award.
