Aces’ A’ja Wilson has been making quite some noise from the very beginning of the season. Whether you talk about offense, defense, or leadership, the reigning WNBA Finals MVP is bringing the full plate to Las Vegas’ table. With so much talent brimming out of the 6-feet-4 power forward, not just fans, but analysts also have their eyes fixated on her. One of them is ESPN’s up-and-coming analyst and former hooper Chiney Ogwumike.

But the 2014 Rookie of the Year didn’t just have eyes set on A’ja Wilson but has also noticed the microscopic details in her playmaking. Praising the athlete on a three-peat mission, Ogwumike said, “I say it’s a checklist and she’s a top tier and she is perfect for the first one for a reason. You know why? Because she is where the money is at…She takes great players and turns them into champions.” Ogwumike also suggested that the many qualities in Wilson are the reason why the Aces are getting $100,000 per player from the LVCVA.

The WNBA Countdown host also broke down how the 2x WNBA MVP acts on the floor. She said, “Every year she increases her points per game, rebounds per game, and blocks per game. That’s just wild…She also checks off a box every year with how her game expands.”

Seemingly, the Aces star is always looking to add more to her numbers. If we look at her past two seasons in which Vegas brought the World Champion title home, her digits have increased. In 2022, she averaged 19.5 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks. In their repeat season, A’ja Wilson averaged 22.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks. This season in 2 games so far, she has added 26 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks. Let us see what she is able to accomplish as a post-player.

How does A’ja Wilson make the Aces better?

Chiney Ogwumike broke down how the Times 100 speaker achieves so much on the floor. She started by telling how Wilson puts up pin-down screens and creates misdirection for opponents. Consequently, she drops a mid-range shot which has become her signature. Moreover, what sets A’ja Wilson apart is her selfishness. She makes plays and passes so the team can have more points than an individual. The No. 22 of Aces can also alter shots with blocks and even send the ball out of bounds to get possession.

The 2x WNBA champ can do anything and everything on the floor. This is undeniably what makes her the most lethal weapon among the many top players on the team. The Aces have surely set standards for the WNBA and A’ja Wilson is a huge part of the development. Now that the team is moving into a new season with many teams like Connecticut Sun coming forward as underdogs, it will be interesting to see if the reigning champions can defend what’s theirs.
