The Fever posted a series of pictures of their new world-class sports performance center in Indianapolis for the Fever players’ recovery, practice and other activities in a fully integrated system. The exciting news amid the WNBA Finals has drawn mixed reactions from ‌fans.

The Fever ownership has been investing in infrastructure since Caitlin Clark set foot in the city. She has been the main driver of profit for the Fever with record attendance and viewership, and the team has also been intentional in making Indiana the WNBA’s capital.

On court, however, they have been disappointing. They haven’t moved beyond the semifinals since they drafted Clark in 2024, perhaps something that the fans care more about than the new $78 million practice facility.

“We’re begging you to hire a head coach that actually likes Clark’s style of play and isn’t forcing her to become just a boring cog in a tired old Connecticut Sun offense. The clock is ticking; her fourth year is about to begin. Don’t waste it on White,” one fan wrote.

“A new head coach would also be great for performance (especially in playoffs!),” another fan expressed a similar sentiment.

The desperation is real in Indiana. It’s hard to turn away from the fact that Angel Reese is in the Finals, and might even win it all. If so, it won’t be easy for Indiana fans to digest that Clark’s arch-nemesis won the title before her.

But it seems like the fans are dissatisfied with the Fever’s overall functioning. Last week, team president Kelly Krauskopf stepped down from her position. On the same day, the Fever fired GM Amber Cox, leaving a void in the front office.

“I sure do hope that the Indiana Fever hires some competent front office hires. What you’ve done is ridiculous! If it doesn’t change, I’m out!” one fan commented.

The frustration among fans has not been just about coaching or the losses. Cox was blamed for not putting together a strong cast beside Clark to contend for the title.

“Caitlin Clark center! LMAO.”

Construction of the 108,000-square-foot, three-story facility began in the summer last year. Now that it is ready to go fully functional, it becomes a living marker of the 2024 Rookie of the Year’s impact on the Fever’s economy and her wider impact. With a very passionate fanbase, the city doesn’t separate the home team and its star.

The outer wall of the facility features a large logo of the Indiana Fever. It is separate from the official logo of the team, which features “Fever” on a circular badge. A fan urged the team to change the old one to the logo on the outer wall.

“Can yall keep that as the official logo and get rid of the circle one thx,” one fan wrote.

Indiana Fever player performance center is truly world-class

The facility features dual courts with modern technology, including a rehab area, a workout facility and sports medicine. The recovery suite includes a sauna, red light therapy, treatment rooms and hydrotherapy pools for the players’ full-time recovery. They will also have access to a private lounge, a separate space to prepare themselves, and a locker room.

The facility features “The Hub,” which the team will use to celebrate achievements. It will also work as a space for the team to assemble. The Fever have ensured that their players receive nutritional care with a full-service kitchen with a chef, dining spaces, nutrition and smoothie bars.

However, there are other aspects of the performance center that make it more interesting and world-class. It features a content production studio allowing players to make their TikTok videos. There is also a dedicated podcast room, makeup salon and spaces for childcare.

“These renderings bring our vision into focus,” said former Team President Kelly Krauskopf in April. “Every element of this facility has been intentionally designed around our players, including how they train, recover, connect and live day to day. This will set a new standard for women’s sports and continue to position Indianapolis at the center of that momentum.”

Additionally, the facility will also feature a public lobby with a Hall of Excellence, which will showcase the history of the Indiana Fever. It will also give fans a great retail experience with a chance for them to buy unique merchandise.
