Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel Join Spider-Man at the Game Awards 2020

Game Awards 2020 is just around the corner, and Geoff Keighley is leaving no stone unturned to make the event an astounding success. Soon after announcing Tom Holland as a host, the Video Game Journalist has two significant additions to the list.

On Twitter, Geoff informed the fans about Gal Gadot and Brie Larson presenting at The Game Awards 2020.

Fans dismayed by non-gamer celebs hosting The Game Awards 2020

Ever since Geoff Keighley established it in 2014, The Game Awards has been the most awaited annual gaming events in the world. The expectations from the 2020 edition are also sky-high, but the recent announcements regarding the hosts tell a different story.

Despite being famous Hollywood stars, Tom Holland, Brie Larson, and Gal Gadot do not have strong ties with the gaming community.  Fans around the world love them as Spider-Man, Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel, but their inclusion in The Game Awards does not seem to add up for many.

Interestingly, Tom Holland is currently working in the Uncharted movie, and that is his only connection to the gaming industry. On the flip side, Gal Gadot and Brie Larson do not have any vested interests in gaming.

From a marketing viewpoint, including non-gamer celebrities certainly seems like a profitable move. While some fans recognize that such marketing strategies are common, others feel that the hosts should have been from the gaming community itself.

  • Hades
  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons
  • The Last of Us Part II

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II is the most nominated game for The Game Awards 2020. Including Game of the Year and Best Game Direction, the game has been nominated in 10 categories. Hades and Ghost of Tsushima are up next with 8 and 7 nominations, respectively.
