Patrick Mouratoglou is one of the best coaches in the game. The partnership he shared with Serena Williams has been highly successful over the years. Patrick has his own tennis academy where he grooms youngsters, and in 2018, Stefanos Tsitsipas joined the academy.

The Greek has been under regular observation by Patrick himself. Having won his first ATP match towards the end of 2017, Stefanos has grown rapidly as a player. He won his first ATP title at the Stockholm Open in 2018. He followed it up by reaching the final of the Rogers Cup. The impressive part was that he beat four Top 10 players en route.

Recently, while speaking about Tsitsipas, Patrick had only high words of praise for him and stated, “Stefanos is extremely special, and I believe that he has everything to become a champion. I really believe that he has everything to achieve (a Grand Slam)…I think he’s a bit obsessed with tennis, which is something that is extremely important.”

Stefanos Tsitsipas desires to strive for greatness

It’s no secret that Stefanos has the ability to do wonders in the game. The win he had over Roger Federer in the Australian Open 2019 gave fans a sight of that. Later that year, he won the ATP Finals. It was the first time Tsitsipas ever qualified for the season-ending finale. As a matter of fact, he has registered wins against Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic. He knows what it takes to beat the best.

On the subject of Tsitsipas’ potential, Mouratoglou added, “He wants to be at the top of the game. That’s the thing that drives him every day. And he will not be satisfied with the good results. He wants great results. “

The current year has not been up to the mark according to Tsitsipas’ standards. He lost to Nadal in a three-set encounter at the ATP Finals yesterday. It’ll be interesting to see what’s in store from the talented player-coach duo in the season ahead.
