An insane debut by Khamzat Chimaev
In the throwback video, Khamzat is seen rushing at his opponent before taking him to the ground. He then neutralizes his opponent’s arm and lands a series of hammer fists.

This fighting style has stuck for the fighter as he is equally good at fighting on the feet as well as on the ground. A rather tricky striker, Chimaev makes use of his distance and can land dangerous punches in the pocket.
It’s because of his unique style, that he has caught the attention of the UFC hierarchy and fans across the world.

Chimaev displayed his versatility against John Phillips and Rhys McKee. He expertly took down Phillips in the second round before choking his opponent. Then ten days later he mauled McKee using his striking.

It’s truly a breath of fresh air to see fighters who are equally good at both. Thankfully, Chimaev is part of a rare breed of fighters who wrestle and strike with ease.
Despite being new to the UFC, Chimaev has called out top fighters such as Conor McGregor on multiple occasions. Although a fight is highly unlikely between the two anytime soon, it shows how confident Chimaev is in conquering various divisions.

Though he is still only 26, the Swedish fighter has a long way to go to emulate Khabib Nurmagomedov. Chimaev is being touted as the next Khabib, and if he keeps performing at this rate, he can truly be the next champion.
