Kyrgios had earlier asked on his Instagram handle: “Mixed doubles for Wimbledon. Who wants in?”

Kyrgios comes into Wimbledon after not playing since the Australian Open 2021. Whereas Venus Williams needed a wildcard to compete in singles as her ranking has plummeted in recent years. And both Kyrgios and Venus are capable doubles players and hence when they both were free, it made sense to team up and play entertaining tennis.

Venus Williams earlier admission to having Nick Kyrgios as doubles partner

Back in 2017, Venus was once asked who she would name as her dream doubles partner, and to everyone’s surprise, she had named Kyrgios. “I don’t know, I think it’d be fun to play with Nick Kyrgios,” she said.

To Venus’ comments, the Aussie had replied: “Thankssssss legend”

Venus Williams has two Grand Slams in mixed doubles which she won back in 1998. At that time she was a teenager and had Justin Gimelstob as her partner. Since then she has changed a few partners, however, hasn’t had any success. She once partnered with Bob Bryan and reached the Wimbledon mixed doubles final in 2006.
