‘Wrote a 75-Page Mainfesto”: King Richard Actor Details How Venus and Serena Williams’ Father Carved Their Path of Success

Over the years, the women’s game has been dominated by the William sisters. Both Venus and Serena Williams have entertained fans to such a large extent that they are certain to go down in the history books forever. It is not an understatement to say that their impact has transformed the WTA Tour.  

Recently, Serena Williams and Venus Williams’ father Richard received praise from actor Tony Goldwyn. He is playing the role of the coach in the movie “King Richard.” He claimed that the father of these two great athletes predicted even before they were born that he would groom them to become future stars.

The actor stated, “Before these daughters were born, Richard envisioned them as tennis champions and wrote a 75-page manifesto, although he knew nothing about the game and taught himself to play on public courts. He envisioned the classic way of hitting the ball. NOT frontward.”

Tony spoke highly of Richard and highlighted the manner in which he brought about a change in the game. He visualized a much more classic approach towards the game and not frontward.

The 61-year-old further added, “The positive position was sideways. One foot in front of the other. Opposing the ‘open facing the ball’ stance, he and their coach argued. I play the coach and their real-life differences changed their relationship. Richard correctly became the standard and his way changed the game.”

Coming to tennis, Serena and Venus both decided to skip the final Grand Slam event of the season, the US Open 2021. They withdrew themselves as they were dealing with injuries. We hope to see them get fit and be ready to compete for the events in the upcoming 2022 season.
