After facing a disappointing exit from the Miami Open in the third round of the tournament itself, speculation has mounted on whether Murray will retire after the summer. Was the match against Tomas Machac the last match Murray played in the US? Even after playing over the 3-hour-long match, things didn’t go as planned as he sprained his ankle during the tiebreaker against Machac. After the match, it was Randy Walker who raised this question, which received reactions from Serena Williams’ former coach, Rennae Stubbs, and even Murray’s mother.

He wrote, “Was that Andy Murray’s last match in the United States just now at the #MiamiOpen?” looking into that question, the Australian tennis coach praised and emphasized the fact that things are not over for the three-time Grand Slam champion.

Murray’s emotional admission regarding the Miami Open exit

Andy Murray, who defeated Tomás Martín Etcheverry to earn his fifth victory of the year, discussed the importance of this triumph with the media. Murray voiced his thoughts as a self-imposed deadline drew near, saying, “Just nice to get another opportunity to play a match here. This is going to be my last time playing in Miami so I wanted to play well and have good memories.”

The British star went on to explain his historical connection to the city, saying, “Miami has been a special place for me during my career. It’s like been my tennis home, really. I’ve done so much of my work and training and preparation here and I love the city.” Murray expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to compete, but he also realized that the match was the last one he would play in this Miami event.
