Earlier in 2021, this incident occurred in the midst of the Australian Open. Although the tennis star’s performance on the court was great, his actions brought him closer to criticism. Nevertheless, the tennis players did not appear to care a damn about what other people thought.

What made Nick Kyrgios fume over Martina Navratilova? 

It was the time when the 27-year-old was prepared to face Dominic Thiem in a match during the Australian Open. On a tennis channel, the 59-time Grand Slam winner discussed her thoughts on the Australian tennis player’s flaws and the dynamics on the court. The tennis player and Novak Djokovic, a 21-time Grand Slam champion, were engaged in an off-court verbal battle at that moment.

The former tennis player talked about the emotional growth of the Australian tennis player at that time. She said, “As tennis players you get thrust into the adult life early on before you’re really ready for it emotionally and so the emotional growth comes in bits and pieces and it’s delayed really. So I think this way, give him a chance maybe to catch up. I don’t know if he’s a good bad guy or a bad good guy…he’s both.”

When the Australian player came across this comment from the tennis legend. the tennis player comment on the post and wrote, “YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ME.” The 27-year-old was frequently criticized at the time for not giving the sport enough attention and for getting away with a lot with his extracurricular activities. The 66-year-old tennis star, however, also spoke of the young player’s disrespect towards other tennis players.

Navratilova once slammed Kyrgios for showing a lack of respect 

Back in 2019, the 59-time grand slam champion, in an interview, shared her thoughts on the tennis player for the first time. And said, that the Australian tennis player was erratic and resembled a box of chocolates. You can never predict what you will get. But she added, “He needs to respect that person and I’m not sure he respects anybody really.”
