The 68-year-old American tennis coach has helped develop some of the sport’s brightest young players into tennis stars. Serena and Venus Williams, Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova are just a few of the tennis legends he nurtured into the elite players they are today. Likewise, he is very good at spotting talent on the tennis court.
And after seeing the 20-year-old tennis player defeat the Serbian, he shared his perspective on the wonderful traits the Spaniard possesses that will help him win.

Further, he stated that even though nothing might have changed in his game, pressure always plays a huge part in his victories. He performs better when he knows that things have gotten a little out of control, just like a true friend.
However, this is not the first time the Williams sisters’ childhood coach has spoken highly of the top-ranked tennis player in the world. A few months ago, Macci made a rather optimistic statement about the 2023 Wimbledon Champion.

When Alcaraz’s performance left Macci awestruck
Without a doubt, the 20-year-old is putting in his best effort and has established himself as one of the fiercest rivals on the tennis court. And a few months ago, the 68-year-old American tennis coach lauded the Spaniard’s incredible ability after observing how she was succeeding on the court.
He expressed on his Twitter account that he had not seen tennis talent like him in the previous 20 years. He was particularly impressed with the tennis player’s extraordinarily potent drop shot – he was ranked number one overall.
