Records were broken on Saturday as the women’s singles final at the 2021 Wimbledon Championship kicked off in fine fashion. Going to the battle were two immensely talented players who have been at the top of their game throughout the campaign. However, while one would celebrate glory, the other would have to settle for agony; such is the fate of players. Regardless, thorough entertainment was promised as World No. 1, Ashleigh Barty took on a former World No. 1, Karolina Pliskova.
