Before her ban, the two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep was training with Mouratoglou. After her ban, Mouratoglou clarified that while the Romanian takes a break from tennis, he would be joining the coaching staff of Holger Rune.

The former world No.1 was given a provisional suspension by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) after testing positive for a prohibited substance at this year’s US Open. Halep is not permitted to compete in any WTA tournaments and may be subject to severe punishment.
