The quarter-final match between Daniil Medvedev and Holger Rune at the BNP Paribas Open was an intense drama. During the match, Medvedev made a gesture towards Rune that replicated the physical expression of the latter. Holger Rune previously joked about how pulling up his shorts helped him shake off a missed overhead and secure his position at the match’s straight sets.

Nevertheless, it brought a great toll of laughter for fans and Serena Williams’s ex-coach Rennae Stubbs was also spotted giving the same hilarious vibe after seeing Medvedev’s action. Taking to X, Rennae shared a clip of the incident. Rune’s fans knew this was the Danish player’s mannerism. Stubbs added a funny caption – “Ewwwe loving this @holgerrune2003@DaniilMedwed match !!!! Little argy bargy going on! Then this 👇🏼👇🏼! I was going to go to bed as i am TIREDDDDD but i can’t now! 😂”

By the time the altercation started, the Russian had led the first set 7-5. Rune tried his best to win in the second set. In that process, he got Medvedev close to the net with a drop shot. However, Medvedev responded with a drop shot and this went on. In the rally, Rune managed to fire it and hit the point-winning shot. The Dane immediately offered a brief apology but that didn’t satisfy Medvedev as he narrowly avoided a painful hit.

He was furiously waiting with his hands on the net, as the Dane went back to the baseline. When Rune turned, Medvedev put two fingers to his eyes and then pointed at him to let him know he was watching him closely for his behavior for the rest of the match.
