The non-completion of the courts in Cancun, Mexico, has been a huge disappointment for the players who are participating in the WTA Finals. Just a couple of days away from the tournament’s commencement, the courts are still not ready and this has hampered the ability of players to practice adequately. Everyone, including the fans, can imagine how frustrating that might be.

Despite spending $6 million on the construction, the site not being ready has caused havoc in major players who have landed in Cancun early to practice, including Elena Rybakina and Marketa Vondrousova. Out of pure frustration, they shared their frustration through on the social media accounts, making use of the PTPA’s post.

Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) is an organization set up by Novak Djokovic to make sure that tennis players worldwide feel safeguarded. Recently, their official Instagram page posted about the condition of the courts in Mexico where the WTA Finals are scheduled to be held. The courts are still under construction and this has caused a lot of frustration among the players who have landed there early.

Owing to the same, both tennis stars Vondrousova and Rybakina shared the post by PTPA on their official Instagram page through their stories to highlight their frustrations. While the 2023 Wimbledon champ added emojis that showed her confusion, Rybakina couldn’t muster any words as she shared the post on her story with three dots.

The current situation has forced players to arrive at the venue early to practice at the hotel courts instead of the courts they are actually supposed to play on.

Amid the WTA Finals’ lack of preparation, players were forced to practice on hotel courts

Ahead of the WTA Finals 2023, the authorities have stated that the courts won’t be ready till Saturday, which gives the players just 1 day to practice on the actual courts that they will be playing in. So now the players, including Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, Marketa Vondrousova and Elena Rybakina, among others, have to practice on the hotel courts.
