It has been almost 20 years since American fans had their own male singles slam champion. The drought started after Andy Roddick’s triumph at the US Open in 2003 and a lot has changed since then. The 90s generation American fans were blessed with the Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi era, but modern-day fans have had little to celebrate as far as men’s tennis is concerned.
Amidst all the talk regarding America having its own new male slam winner, the former coach of Venus and Serena Williams, Rick Macci has given a ray of hope to the desperate fans. The 68-year-old American coach in his recent tweet dropped hints on rising American talent.

The former coach said, “American 15-year-old Darwin Blanch will have one of the best forehands and serves on the ATP TOUR in the near future. Macci coached the Williams sisters from 1991 to 1995 before Richard Williams took over. Despite parting ways years ago, he has had a great relationship with the sisters, especially Serena Williams. He has never missed out on an opportunity to acknowledge her G.O.A.T (greatest of all time) status. In fact, Macci’s pinned tweet on Twitter is a couple of pictures of him with Serena Williams herself, one from the early days while the other being a fairly recent one.
