Frances Tiafoe’s girlfriend Ayan Broomfield, who is a former Division 1 college tennis champion, acted as the body double for Saniyya Sidney, who played the role of Venus Williams in the ‘King Richard’ movie in 2021. She was hand-selected to play the tennis scenes in the movie by the legendary Venus Williams herself. This would be a big deal for anyone, and it was extra special for Broomfield because she grew up idolizing the Williams sisters.

Just recently in one of her interviews, Ayan Broomfield opened up on her experience of working in the movie as Venus Williams. And needless to say, it was as surreal for her as one would expect.

Ayan Broomfield considers her role in the movie as one of the ‘highlights’ of her tennis career. She stated, “That was probably one of the highlights of my tennis career. They were very in tune with what was going on, on the set an overlooked the script. They wanted to make sure that it was told right.”

Opening more about her role, Broomfield added, “I had to study a lot to make sure that I was as Venus-esque as possible because you want to do her justice, pay homage to what she did for the sport and for the Black community.”

Broomfield also posted a lot of pictures from her time at the shoot on her social media as well. Transitioning from the sport to acting and influencing on social media was quite a jump for Broomfield as well. And this is not the only time she got to ‘act’ in regard to tennis. She was also a part of the Netflix documentary on tennis players- ‘Break Point’, where her boyfriend Frances Tiafoe was one of the main protagonists.

Another spotlight in the career of Broomfield was when she was featured in BreakPoint. This series also acted as an official revelation for the couple to come out and open up to the fans about their relationship. After doing the series and the movie, Broomfield certainly took a turn in her career path toward creating and influencing. This also helped her to start working with some major brands.

Some of the brands she worked with were INN Beauty, Bondi Sands, Wilson, Bumble and Bumble, and Years of Ours. Other than that, Broomfield also stated in one of her interviews that giving back is crucial for her. So, she works with local charities at every tournament she goes to or every brand she works with.

She stated, “I use one of my brand deals to work on donations, with either money or product. For example, at the Miami Open (occurring from March 17 to March 31), I partnered with Lotus House, which is a local Miami women’s shelter.” What do you think about this initiative by Broomfield?
