“Happening Constantly Illegally”: Eugenie Bouchard Contradicts Nick Kyrgios And Others’ On-Court Coaching Stand

The legality of on-court coaching has long been a matter of debate in tennis. While Stefanos called for it to be made legal on Twitter July, Nick Kyrgios disagreed with him. In the end, pundits were in agreement with Billy Jean King, who was in favor of it being legal as well. Player-turned-anchor Eugenie Bouchard is the latest to chime in with her opinion.

Eugenie Bouchard is in favor of on-court training during tennis matches
In July, Stefanos Tsitsipas received a code violation from the umpire during his quarterfinal match at Hamburg. He was taking instructions from his box and unfortunately received the apparent punishment. He took to Twitter to express his disagreement with the rule and wanted it to be legalized like it is in other sports.
“It should be legal, because at the end of the day it’s happening constantly, illegally. And that just advantages the foreign players who are speaking in different languages. We don’t know what they are saying, the coaches are saying to the players. It’s hard for the umpires to catch it and so if you just prevent it.

“It is a 100% all the time happening anyway, might as well make it legal,” said Bouchard on the Tennis Channel.
There were several other personalities who gave their opinion on the matter at hand. However, there is no concrete verdict from the tennis bodies as of yet.

Bouchard’s return to court

The 2014 Wimbledon Championships finalist suffered an injury on her right shoulder when she was playing in Guadalajara in March. She posted a picture on her Instagram handle revealing that she underwent a surgery for the right shoulder injury.
However, Eugenie has slowly started recovering from it and has started rehab. Her surgery demoted her to being a speaker on the Tennis Channel. She has recently mentioned that she has her fingers crossed for the US Open and would want to play there. She missed out on many tournaments since March.
