Former American tennis star Serena Williams is an inspiration in all aspects. While there’s no doubt about her prowess as a tennis player, she also carries her fighting spirit outside of the tennis court.

Serena did a similar thing when she returned to the court after a tough childbirth. No one will understand it better than a mother who went through pregnancy at the same time. Novak Djokovic‘s wife, Jelena, was full of praise for the ‘queen of the court’ for the same reason.

It was back in 2018, only 10 months after delivering daughter Olympia in a critical childbirth that lead to a serious near-death experience, Serena was back. The 23-time Grand Slam champion surprised everyone with her comeback performance. The American looked effortless on her road to the final of the Wimbledon Championships.

Wife of Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic, Jelena had childbirth at almost the same time as Serena. She was amazed by the bravery Serena showed. She took to her Twitter account to laud the American for her bravery.This amazing woman @serenawilliams has given birth to her little girl just one day before I gave birth to my girl 10 months ago. I am barely surviving to watch, and she is RUNNING and playing FINAL of a Grand Slam. just to put things into perspective,” she wrote.

Serena made it to the final of the US Open later that year as well. Although she failed to cross the last hurdle on both occasions.

Pregnancy changed Serena’s perspective on pain

After going through a difficult childbirth, the American legend said that it helped her mentally. Whenever she is in pain, her mindset now is that if I can have a baby, I can endure this pain as well.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion believes that going through pregnancy has increased her ability to endure pain and running those extra twenty-thirty minutes seems to be easier now. However, the legend added that it is limited only to her mindset and the physical issues are still there.
