The Russian tennis players are all set to return to play the major championships this upcoming season after the pandemic. Aryna Sabalenka, the fifth-ranked player in the world, was also one of the players who was blocked from competing at Wimbledon this year. Regarding her odds of being drawn to play at Wimbledon, the tennis star has some strange thoughts.

The All England Club banned Russian and Belarusian players in protest to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, keeping out seven highly ranked players this year, including the Belarusian tennis player who advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals in 2021.

The 24-year-old tennis player is presently competing in Dubai as a member of the falcons in the World Tennis League. Sabalenka told the AFP that the matter is beyond her hands and that she is only waiting for a response. The question is will she get to play the Wimbledon or not?

She said, “I have zero control on this situation. I’m just sitting and waiting for the decision. If they’re going to ban us for another year. I’m going to have fun at home in Miami, to spend some time with my family and do another pre-season. I don’t care about Wimbledon.”

The fifth-ranked tennis player in the world is pretty confident in her choice. And after considering the circumstances of this year, she is prepared to stay at home, spend time with her family. She will get ready for upcoming events rather than continuously worrying about the ban. Tennis player also wants the Wimbledon organizers to be a little more receptive to the concept of allowing the tennis players who have been banned from competing in the 2019 edition.
