Once dominating the world’s rankings as number two, Stefanos Tsitsipas girlfriend Paula Badosa is now outside the top 100 and dealing with life’s arrows. The Spaniard is battling with all her might to regain her previous dominance despite a never-ending stream of injuries. The setbacks she has experienced make this task more arduous. She recently opened up about the tough road ahead and the enormous obstacles she needs to clear to revive her tennis career.

Notably, it was the stress fracture in her back that forced her to shut down the whole last season after Wimbledon. The Spaniard suffered a loss in the second round of the Stuttgart Open when she had to withdraw in the third set against Aryna Sabalenka. Fortunately, her prior back injury had nothing to do with her retirement. Rather, it was caused by a little rip in her adductor.

In a recent conversation just before the Madrid Open, the Greek player’s girlfriend opened up about trying everything possible to keep herself going on the court. She stated, “Feeling zero pain on the track is going to be very difficult for me, but I’m taking it in the best possible way, and if I can compete, it’s already a triumph for me.”

Her struggles with recurrent injuries have undoubtedly presented serious obstacles to her development on the court. Even though she is talented and tenacious, her ongoing struggles with injuries made it more problematic to keep up the momentum she had two years ago when she was considered one of the best players.

Further, she added, I know that this year I can’t set high expectations, but I look at the medium term. The day I stop believing in my chances of doing important things, I will stop playing. While she deals with injuries one at a time, she does not leave any hope of being a part of the tennis arena or making an amazing return to her usual form.

During the Indian Wells, she revealed how her doctors confronted her that it wouldn’t be easy to prolong her tennis career for a long time. She stated, They said this is the only option we can give you, and maybe you will have to keep doing that if you want to play for a few more years. Although her physical struggles are evident with her withdrawal and struggles on the court, mental struggles also take a toll on her. Just a few days ago, the WTA tennis star made a heartbreaking admission regarding her battle with mental health.
