Tennis is usually an individual sport where we see one opponent against the other. However, there have been tours that have promoted team matches. For example, we have Laver Cup, Billie Jean King Cup, and now put on a halt, International Premier Tennis League. In 2014, we saw elite players like Serena Williams, Gael Monfils, and Goran Ivanisevic amongst others traveling from Manila to Singapore.

Ana Ivanovic gave them a surprise and served as their stewardess and the players seemed to enjoy their flight in those pictures.

Tennis star Ana Ivanovic served Serena Williams and others

International Premier Tennis League 2014 comprised four teams and top-tier players participating in the tour. The fun part began when the Serbian player Ana Ivanovic served her colleagues as well as gave safety instructions. In one picture, she was serving the American player Serena Williams and Daniela Hantuchova of the Singapore Slammers.

In another picture, Gael Monfils was wearing his headphones. Other players on the flight were Fabris Santoro, Nick Kyrgios, and Lewton Hewitt. All of them were part of various teams. Ana Ivanovic was a part of the Indian Aces team which also included Gael Monfils and Fabrice Santoro.

Roger Federer and Pete Sampras were also from the Indian Aces and they played in the home matches in New Delhi.

What happened in International Premier Tennis League 2014?

Indian Aces won the tour in 2014. It was the first edition of the tour and was played in Manila, Singapore, New Delhi, and Dubai. The concept of the whole tour was very different. Mahesh Bhupathi founded the league where the matches were to be played in four countries in Asia.

The league featured 21 grand slam champions and 14 incumbent or former world champions. Single-set no-added scoring replaced the traditional scoring system during this tor. So, fans could see a lot of players in one evening itself.

The league gained huge popularity in Asia and also increased the importance of tennis. However, 2016 was the last edition of the league. Since then, there has not been any information regarding its regrouping.
