The tennis world said farewell to several stellar names in recent years as they announced their retirement. While Maria Sharapova called time on her tennis career back in 2020, the likes of Roger Federer, Serena Williams, and Juan Martin del Potro said their goodbyes in 2022.

A recent tweet by the US Open’s official Twitter handle asked fans about their opinion on which player should make a comeback. The winner, according to the fans’ opinions, was none other than the Swiss maestro Roger Federer. However, there were a few votes for some of the other names as well.

The fans want Roger Federer to make a return

After @usopen asked “Who is one player who you’d like to see resurrect their career?”, the fans’ responses came pouring in.

Twitter user @_tabassumm_ wrote, “No doubt about this one any day” followed by a GIF of Roger Federer getting ready.

User @saketfedex was also of the same opinion as he wrote, “I won’t say resurrection but Roger Federer.” He emotionally stated, “I miss him so much.” He also added an image of Federer taking a selfie with a young fan.

Another user, @SabrLuv wrote, “PLEASE” followed by a crying emoji. The tweet also featured an image of Roger Federer looking at his intimidating best.

@5to1_ wrote, “Dubbi @rogerfederer?”, followed by a GIF of the Swiss legend walking away with the Wimbledon Championship.

@Lexi2real_ was another hardcore Federer fan who tweeted, “Thee Roger Federer.” in response.

Serena, Masha, and del Potro fans made their presence felt as well

While the majority of fans favored Federer, some demanded for Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, and Juan Martin del Potro to return. @lijitimate wrote, “Serena Williams. Thank you.”

Another user, @TodoSobreMiRafa, hailed Serena Williams as the “best to ever do it”.

Unsurprisingly, Serena got yet another upvote from @Charisse_Tweets, who wrote “Serena Wil–“ followed by a white noise GIF.

@Muzi4Real wanted Juan Martin del Potro to return by saying, “Definitely @delpotrojuan!! That forehand is a thing of beauty.”

User @itsgedwill simply replied to the question with a GIF of Juan Martin del Potro celebrating a point win over Robin Soderling.

Yet another user, @jackscheme, voted for Juan Martin del Potro. He wrote, “give me Juan Martin del Potro return PLEASE”.

Last but not least, Maria Sharapova got a vote from @team_sharapova_ who simply wrote, “Masha”.
