Every tennis player communicates with the same level of compassion and commitment. Aside from their sport’s language, a tennis player must be fluent in many other languages in order to rule the tennis arena in the long run. Just like the way Rafael Nadal only knew Spanish when he entered the sport or Novak Djokovic learned French to communicate better during the French Open. Added to the language tension, the 19-year-old Coco Gauff is trying her hands at learning other languages that are crucial to her success.
While Gauff is trying to learn a lot of languages together, she has, however, run into a new issue as a result of being exposed to so many languages. She recently spoke candidly about her struggles with different languages off the tennis court.

Coco Gauff opens up about her language learning difficulties
The world’s 7th-ranked tennis player, after winning the Citi Open, is all set to participate in the Canadian Open. Just before the commencement of the event, during a pre-tournament Press conference, the 19-year-old American tennis player talked about her language-learning difficulties in detail. After adding Andre Agassi’s former coach, Brad Gilbert, to her coaching team, she is facing a little difficulty juggling between multiple languages.
Gauff said, “I’m really trying, like now and then, now that my team of Para and Maria. They’re trying to teach me Spanish, so my brain is just scrambled. Brad is teaching me all of these quirky, I don’t even know, Californian ’80s sayings, and he is trying to get me to listen to the Eagles. I don’t even — I was, like, the Philadelphia Eagles?”
Although she wants to have a good grip on a lot of languages, learning everything at the same time can be a little baffling for her.
Well, this is not the first time that the 19-year-old has highlighted the language lessons that she has been taking from her coaches, including Brad Gilbert. Just a few days ago, during the Citi Open, she shared a hilarious incident involving Rafael Nadal when asked about her on-court conversations with her coaches.

Gauff took a sly dig at her coaching
A few days ago, after winning the semi-final of the Washington Open, the American revealed during the on-court interview that she was having problems communicating with her coaches. She joked about how Pere Riba, who recently joined his coaching team, is from Spain and suffers a little difficulty in English.
Along with that, the world’s 7th-ranked tennis player shared an incident citing Nadal’s example. She revealed how during their practice she started a normal conversation with him, regarding how she has an external focus just like the 37-year-old Spaniard. At the same time, Riba gave a very confusing answer about having external and internal mixed up. And pointed out that the 22-time Grand Slam Champions have an internal focus, taking the whole conversation to a different angle, just because of his little English error.
