Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina had been dating for quite a while now. Surprisingly, the two decided to take a break earlier this year. However, as fate may have it, the duo has finally tied the knot and begun their marital life.

A purple wedding with fictional superheroes Black Panther and Supergirl as the theme was something unique, warm, and delightful. Consequently, the entire tennis society queued in on social media to wish the newlyweds.

Most recently, the 26-year-old Aussie maverick Nick Kyrgios also joined the list of well-wishers.

Inarguably, Monfils and Svitolina make one of the few most adorning tennis power couples. The duo also has an Instagram together under the username the ‘G.E.M.S life‘ (Gael – Elina – Monfils – Svitolina). But now, they have taken the sacred step to solidify their affection for one another.

Moreover, on hearing the good news, Kyrgios took to Instagram to congratulate them. On his Instagram story, he shared a picture of hugging Monfils during their 2016 Tokyo battle and wrote, “Congrats, my friend!”

Despite it being five years ago, the Monfils-Kyrgios Tokyo battle probably remains the most entertaining match of the Open Era. In that semifinal match, they both put their unconventional and jaw-dropping tennis on full display.

Given the absence from the ATP tour, Monfils and Kyrgios would hope to do well in the US Summer Swing. On the other side, the Ukrainian World No.6 would also want to change her Grand Slam curse this year in New York.

When will Monfils, Svitolina, and Kyrgios play next?

Altogether, the trio might bump into each other at the Rogers Cup, starting in the second week of August. It would be interesting to see the new couple playing doubles there for the first time as husband and wife.

Besides them, the Aussie star will mark his return at the Atlanta Open from July 26, 2021. Kyrgios has confirmed his participation in the doubles category, too, alongside American Jack Sock.
