Over the years during her illustrious career, Serena Williams has been a fierce competitor on the tennis court. However, she is just the opposite off the court. The American legend can be seen hanging out with her friends from across industries. Amongst them is British Vogue editor-in-chief, Edward Enninful.  Serena has had many special memories with her close friend Enninful. Last year, the 23-time Grand Slam champion enjoyed a date night with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, at Enninful’s book launch.

Recently, National Health Service marked 75 years of its existence. On this occasion, the Ghanaian-born British editor reminisced about a special memory. This invited a wonderful response from the pregnant American tennis legend.

Serena Williams pays heartfelt tribute to Edward Enninful

On the 75th anniversary of the publicly funded healthcare system in England, Enninful remembered his proudest moment at British Vogue, the July 2020 cover that was dedicated to the front-line workers who risked their lives to serve people amidst the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The 51-year-old editor-in-chief took to Instagram to share his thoughts with the public. Reacting to this, Serena commented, “You continue to be amazing. Love how you think. Love you my friend.”

One of the cover stars, Rachel Millar’s message deeply struck Enninful. She said, “After the 8pm clapping fades, I hope the NHS won’t be forgotten.” That Vogue edition was an effort to carry her and thousands of other NHS workers’ stories amidst challenging times.
