So lately, Macci recalled a particular period from when he mentored Serena Williams’ fiercest competitor, Capriati, when she was just starting out in the sport. The 47-year-old former tennis player was part of the Rick Macci Training Academy during her teenage years. Recently, the renowned American tennis coach did not hesitate to lavish praises on the then-young tennis prodigy as he hailed her with an apt moniker.

Serena Williams’ childhood coach recalls Jennifer Capriati’s early tennis days

The 68-year-old American tennis coach recently took to his Twitter account to share a memory from the three-time Grand Slam champion’s training days back when she was developing her skills at his academy to become a professional tennis player.

He wrote, “When I coached Jennifer Capriati from age 10 to 14 her balance was so amazing she could rip a groundstroke with a cup of water of her head and both shoulders and not spill a drop! One of my all time favorites! The JENERATOR!”

Further, he also praised her groundstrokes and gave her a unique tag summarizing her amazing tennis skills. He called the former American tennis player a ‘JENERATOR’.

However, this is not the first time the tennis player has talked about the 47-year-old former tennis star. A few years back, he also made a shocking revelation related to Capriati in connection to the iconic Williams sister duo.

Rick Macci’s huge statement regarding Capriati and the Williams sisters 

The well-known American tennis coach praised the three-time Grand Slam champion in 2021 on his YouTube channel. He said that the 12-year-old Capriati could have defeated both of the William sisters. According to him, the 47-year-old tennis star was just mind-boggling, when she started practicing at his academy.

“Jeniffer was just mind-boggling. I tell this to people all the time, a 12-year-old Capriati would have beat a 12-year-old Serena or Venus 0 and 0,” Macci said.

He also mentioned that, compared to the legendary Williams sister, she was more mature and had better technique at the age of 12. Well, over time, the 41-year-old tennis legend and Capriati had a great rivalry on the tennis court.
