Roger Federer’s ‘Royal Seal of Approval’ to Iga Swiatek Replicating His Near-Impossible Trick Makes Fans ‘Scream’ in Excitement

Even after becoming the world number one in the tennis world, getting Roger Federer‘s approval still means a lot. The rising star Iga Swiatek, despite enjoying a stellar 2022 season, had her best moment on New Year’s day as she got the Swiss Maestro’s approval of her recent performance in the United Cup. Federer’s comment not only astonished the current WTA world number one, but also took the whole tennis world by storm.

The three-time Grand Slam champion has hit one of the finest shots of the year just one day into 2023. The tennis player who is now ranked number one in the world, age 21, is currently competing in the mixed-gender tournament, the United Cup in Adelaide.

Tennis fans left amazed by Federer’s reply

The three-time Grand Slam champion partnered with Hubert Hurkacz during her mixed doubles match against team Kazakhstan and hit an around-the-net shot, grabbing everyone’s attention. The pair secured a straight set victory for Poland. After the match, the official Twitter account of Tennis TV shared a video of the player pulling off a Federer-like backhand. 

The Pole retweeted the video and questioned the Swiss Maestro for his opinion regarding her shot. She wrote, “Do you approve @rogerfederer?” To this, the 20-time Grand Slam champion replied, “That was crazy”

Subsequently, the Tennis world couldn’t keep calm over the Swiss Maestro’s praise. Some fans were amazed by the approval. A fan wrote, “HE REPLIED OMFG.” and the other added, “Approved by the King.”

It’s not surprising that Federer would recognize Swiatek’s talent and potential. As a seasoned veteran and one of the greatest players the sport has seen, he has a keen eye for talent and knows what it takes to succeed at the highest level. However, this is not the first time, she tried her hands on the backhand.

When Swiatek attempted the Federer backhand 

After winning the French Open in 2020, the three-time Grand Slam winner attempted to execute a backhand move like the legendary Swiss Maestro. She took to social media and requested feedback on her backhand from tennis players like Federer, Thiem, and Carla Suárez Navarro.
