Iga Swiatek, who is only 22 years old, has emerged as the women’s tennis’ beating heart. She is one of those tennis players who can never be overlooked because of her talent on the court and her outgoing nature. Despite her best efforts, the four-time Grand Slam champion occasionally faces criticism, either on or off the tennis court. However, she has always had ardent backing from renowned personalities in the sport. Now, it looks like Serena Williams’ former coach has also joined this illustrious list.

Recently, after receiving backlash from a fan on social media, Serena Williams‘ old coach, Rennae Stubbs, stepped in to save Swiatek from being thrown under the bus for something she didn’t do.

Serena Williams’ former coach stands by Iga Swiatek

At the age of 22, the current world number one has not only won four Grand Slam titles but also impressed a lot of tennis players with her skills. Similarly, the 52-year-old Australian coach, Rennae Stubbs, is among those fans who enjoy watching the Polish star on the court. Although she might have impressed her, but somewhere she has a lot of haters to deal with.

But not to worry; Stubbs knows how to deal with negative comments. Recently, when the 23-time Grand Slam champion’s former coach shared an interview of herself on Twitter, she talked about Jessica Pegula defeating the world’s number-one ranked tennis player in the Cincinnati Masters.

After that, a fan gave his critical views about the WTA World No.1, including how he really enjoys it when she loses and how Pegula can easily overpower her after working on her shots. Hearing the out-of-the-blue negativity, in no time, Stubbs shut down the hater.

She wrote, “Calm down bro. She’s a lovely person, so u can choose to just not watch her but no need to attack her this way.”

Nevertheless, this is not the first time someone from the tennis world has come out in support of Swiatek. Earlier this month, a similar incident took place when Nick Kyrgios stood up for the WTA star by sharing his take on a commentator’s criticism of her impact on women’s tennis.

When Kyrgios backed up Iga Swiatek

Earlier this month, a controversy erupted as Jimmy Arias, a commentator on a tennis channel, made a nasty comment on the Pole’s on-court attire, indicating how she might not be good for women’s tennis. Although the comment received a lot of heat from the 22-year-old tennis player’s fans, Kyrgios also defended the four-time Grand Slam champion.
