The world is talking about a deadly curse. The Netflix curse, which, by the way, seems to be sparing no one. With Ons Jabeur following in the footsteps of her Break Point co-stars, fans are starting to doubt if the curse is legit. Sure enough, social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit are swarming with thousands of fans expressing their reactions to this bizarre phenomenon.

Only Maria Sakkari and Felix Auger-Aliassime remain in the Australian Open of all the Break Point stars. The cursed question is glaring in the face of tennis. Recently, James Gray, the news correspondent for “i” posted a picture of all the players in the docuseries who have been eliminated from AO 2023. Fans are blowing up the post with their mixed reactions.

The Netflix Curse is all Twitter is talking about

Players like Taylor Fritz, Casper Ruud, and Matteo Berrettini who gave us high hopes of a great performance this season are already out of the tournament. In Gray’s post, there is a collage of all the ten players who feature in BreakPoint. The faces of those eliminated or dropped out are crossed out. Only Maria Sakkari and Felix Auger-Aliassime have successfully avoided the curse, it seems.

Of course, Netflix UK and Ireland had to react and express their stance on this post. They tweeted that it is “purely a coincidence”. Well, if they are to be believed, then this is the mother of all bad coincidences.

To add to it, fans express their concerns about season 2. Undoubtedly, a huge majority of tennis fans thoroughly enjoyed the show. Who doesn’t love a sneak peek into the lives of their favorite players?

Other fans just believe that the curse is “huge”. With the dwindling list of players that survive the first Grand Slam of the season, they have their doubts.

One fan has commented, “Sakkari and Felix are final girls of Netflix Curse”. They retweeted their comment with a hilarious GIF.

On the other hand, some believe that the story is baseless; there is no curse and the players simply stand eliminated due to their performance in the matches. However, the Netflix Curse was also a topic when the makers of BreakPoint aired “Drive to Survive“.

With all this going around, fans will just hope for Sakkari and Aliassime to beat the odds.

With seasoned players like Nick Kyrgios, Paula Badosa, and Casper Ruud in the Australian Open, fans were expecting more of an interesting tournament. To add to it, Netflix’s release of the docuseries just before the tournament hyped things up all the more.

However, in a shocking turn of events, Badosa, Kyrgios, and Ajla Tomljanovic dropped out of the tournament owing to serious injuries. After that, it went like a domino effect. Matteo Berrettini, Casper Ruud, and Taylor Fritz followed them out. With Thanasi Kokkinakis and Alexander Zverev following suit in the next round, it is hard for some fans to watch the AO 2023 anymore.
