‘Think We’ve Had Enough’ – Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf Are Relieved That Their Children Didn’t Take Up a ‘Weird Sport’ Named Tennis

Tennis legends, Andre Agassi and his wife Steffi Graf, both have had tremendous tennis careers. Together, they have won 30 Grand Slam titles, with the 52-year-old having won 8 major titles and the German player having won an amazing 22. The power couple once spoke about their children’s interest in tennis and how they weren’t interested in forcing them to become professional tennis players.

Agassi and Graf have been married for more than 20 years, and with their two kids they are a joyful family of four. The two tennis giants, according to one of their interviews, are interested in encouraging their children’s innate talents rather than pushing them to play tennis.

Andre Agassi doesn’t want his children to become second-generation player

In an old interview, both legends of the sport talked in detail about the children choosing different sports and not following in their parents’ footsteps. Agassi, when quizzed about his children’s future in tennis, said, “Tennis? I just think we’ve had enough, quite honestly.”

Further, he said, “It’s a weird sport. We don’t see too many second-generation players. For us, it’s about raising our children in a way we can share in their life and not always worry about their life.” And talked about how they have chosen their own things, and have no problem whether they play tennis or not.

When Graf was asked the same question, she said, “We never really introduced tennis so much into their lives. They’ve chosen other things that we were surprised with … they love their arts and music.”

They also added that his oldest child, Jaden, who is passionate about playing baseball, is busy hitting home runs from a young age. However, their daughter Jaz has decided to give tennis a try.

Agassi felt lonely while playing tennis

The eight-time Grand Slam champion released his autobiography ‘Open’ in which he discussed his hardships in his professional career and personal life. He discussed how depressing and lonely it can be for a professional player of the sport. He later wrote that because of his loneliness, he became addicted to drugs and stopped attempting to deal with his issues.
