Frances Tiafoe has shocked not only the Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal but also the whole tennis realm. During his last 16 match, Nadal was the overwhelming favorite as he was eying his third Grand Slam title of the season. After his shocking triumph, American tennis sensation Coco Gauff hailed Tiafoe’s performance and congratulated him on his victory.

Tiafoe shocked the Arthur Ashe Stadium when he consistently put the legendary Spaniard on the back foot. After his victory, he is now one of the dark horses for the US Open title.

Coco Gauff hails Frances Tiafoe on his victory against Rafael Nadal 

Nadal came all geared up for the US Open after winning 2 grand slam titles. What he did not expect was Tiafoe’s astounding performance on the court. Tiafoe put up a good fight against the Spaniard and took the victory. After the match, Coco Gauff congratulated the American player through her Instagram story and stated, “BIG FOEEEEEE YOU DESERVE IT ALLLLLLLL @bigfoe1998.” She added, “told you that Ashe energy is differentttttt.” Gauff praised the American player’s performance and hailed the overall aura of the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Coco Gauff had shared her excitement of playing all her matches at the Arthur Ashe stadium earlier in the tournament. She has reached the quarter-finals of the US Open and will face Caroline Garcia.

The last time an American male player clinched the US Open was in 2003. It was Andy Roddick. After that, the title has not been won by an American player in the men’s circuit. Frances Tiafoe himself had stated that the reason behind it was the supremacy of the ‘big three’, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic.

However, this year, he defeated Rafael Nadal in a four-set match and has advanced to the quarter-finals of the US Open. Another contender for the trophy was Taylor Fritz, but he suffered a first-round defeat.
