The world remains in a state of deep shock after Louis Vitton’s artistic designer Virgil Abloh passed away yesterday. Abloh was also the CEO of Off-White, the Italian luxury fashion label. He passed away at the age of 41 after battling cancer.

Serena Williams‘ off-white, zebra-striped outfit featured a crop top and skirt in the 2019 French Open. It was Abloh who had designed the outfit for her. Abloh remained in awe of Serena and considered her not just a tennis player, but a leader for future generations.

This wasn’t Virgil’s only design with Serena Williams. He had also designed her comeback outfit after her catsuit controversy at the 2018 French Open.

Virgil had also designed a flashy pair of Air Jordans for ‘His Majesty’ Roger Federer back in 2017, for the US Open. Titled ‘Virgil Abloh x Nike Air Jordan 1’, the shoes had created headlines.

The tennis world mourns Abloh

Personalities from all over the world and all walks of life have come together to mourn the loss of Virgil Abloh. Venus Williams, the seven-time Grand Slam champion, tweeted her disbelief at the news.

Gael Monfils, for whom Virgil had designed his and his spouse’s wedding dress, took to Twitter to express his shock and pain over his demise.

Australian star Nick Kyrgios reposted a post in his Instagram story, wishing that the late designer rests in peace.
