“Watching My Dubs Partner”: Venus Williams Cheers For Nick Kyrgios at Citi Open 2021

After skipping the Tokyo Olympics 2020, Nick Kyrgios returned to the court at the Atlanta Open 2021. He didn’t succeed there and recently played his first match at the Citi Open 2021. However, here too, he failed to win the first match against Mackenzie McDonald and suffered a humiliating defeat. The final scoreline of the match was 4-6, 4-6.

Even though Nick Kyrgios didn’t enjoy a great start at the Citi Open 2021, he earned a new fan. 7-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams watched his match at the Citi Open and even posted his picture on her Instagram story.

“Watching my dubs partner Nick Kyrgios punch those volleys,” wrote Venus along with the picture.

Interestingly, apart from Kyrgios, one can see a lot of trophies that Venus has won in her career in the picture. She was cheering hard for the Australian from her home but, unfortunately, he got eliminated in the very first round. However, he is still there in the doubles category and will play his first match with his partner, Frances Tiafoe, today.

Venus Williams and Nick Kyrgios at the Wimbledon Championships 2021

Williams and Kyrgios shocked the entire tennis world when they decided to play mixed doubles together at the Wimbledon Championships 2021. Intriguingly, they managed to play pretty well there.

They got off to a great start as they survived a tough match against Austin Krajicek and Sabrina Santamaria in the very first round. However, after that, Kyrgios injured himself in his singles matches against Felix Auger-Aliassime. As a result, Venus and Kyrgios didn’t even play in the second round and their opponents, Nicole Melichar and Edouard Roger-Vasellin, got a walkover.
