The culmination of the grass-court season comes with the beginning of the Wimbledon Championships. However, this year, along with the usual hype around the SW19, a new edition to the major will steal the spotlight. Commentary is an integral part of the sport as it keeps the audience entertained. And this year, Wimbledon is bringing AI to amalgamate technology and sport. The former coach of Venus and Serena Williams favors it.

However, this might be a bummer for a lot of tennis enthusiasts. And Macci knows former world no. 1, John McEnroe might not be too excited about this one.

The veteran coach of Venus and Serena Williams has lauded the new Wimbledon move. It is bringing AI commentary into the major. This will allow the video highlights from the Wimbledon match to get generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Rick Macci took to his Twitter to hail the new move. He stated, “AI when it comes to commentary in tennis will be a game changer for all viewers. It will be a hybrid situation at first so the networks can keep some and human emotion involved.” However, he also highlighted the major change that marks the new move. He stated, “But the BOTS WILL CALL THE SHOTS!”

Talking about the seven-time Grand Slam champion who has now turned into a renowned commentator, Macci did not leave McEnroe’s plight behind. He added, “John McEnroe just screamed YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS.”

This move came into being in June. Tech organization IBM joined hands with All England Club to produce AI Commentary for all video highlights of matches at Wimbledon this year.

Apart from that, speculations about Roger Federer commentating at Wimbledon this year stirred the waters. And now the Swiss Maestro himself has cleared his stance on the issue.

The Swiss Maestro’s speculations about his role as a commentator at the Wimbledon Championships had created a frenzy among tennis enthusiasts.

Federer in a recent fan interaction on Twitter came clean regarding his commentating plans. When a fan asked if he would be a commentator at Wimbledon this year, Federer cordially denied. Though, he has still left some hope for next year, as he denied any such plans for this year at least.
