Serena Williams is now engaged in her last dance. Williams’ dominance has been unmatched since she took home the first of her 23 Grand Slam titles at this same event when she was just 17 years old. The world knows that her remarkable accomplishments in women’s tennis speak for themselves.

In the meantime, she is still demonstrating her supremacy on the court as she defeated world no. 2 Anett Kontaveit in the second round of the US Open, where every match could be her last match. Many people, including The Man, The Myth, The Legend, Ric Flair, praised her for her outstanding performance.

It was thought that this might be William’s final match given that she faced world no.2. Contrary to popular belief, the former world number one did not experience a loss of energy when Kontaveit smoothed the score in the second set. Instead, she recovered to win a nail-biting final after winning the difficult opening set.

Williams smashed the skeptic’s serve to show off her court prowess and that she still has plenty of tennis gas in the tank. And prevailed  7-6, 2-6, 6-2. The Nature Boy praised this and then tweeted in support of her second round. 

Ric Flair’s heartfelt note for Serena Williams

Serena received countless congratulations and heartfelt messages from her followers and many great individuals following her thrilling singles battle. Numerous celebrities, including Tiger Woods, Zendaya, and others, attended the event to cheer for Williams. Additionally, given her tennis prowess during the match, Flair stated he was flabbergasted by the tremendous respect the audience had shown for her.

“Win or Lose, you will be the best of all time,” said Flair. Indeed, she has really attained a level that is just unfathomable, yet she continues to turn back time to showcase her talent and establish her reputation as ‘The Mountain that Plays Tennis.’

After this year’s US Open, the six-time champion will retire from competitive tennis. But with this win, she has temporarily put her retirement on hold as she advances to the third round of the US Open. And it will be exciting to follow her performance for the rest of the tournament.
