Does Nick Kyrgios have the champion hunger? Will he ever understand the hunger? The Tennis Legend Chris Evert once raised these kinds of questions for the Australian tennis player. The biggest question she asked was whether the Tennis player was ready to make sacrifices to win the major tournaments and to be the best in the sport. 

The 18-time Grand Slam champion and Brad Gilbert sat together to discuss the sport and the upcoming US Open in 2018, just as they do before every Grand Slam event. But among the subjects of the former player’s chat was the world number 22 player.

Chris Evert expresses her opinion seeing Kyrgios play 

The 18-time Grand Slam champion and the American tennis courts sat down ahead of the Grand Slam tournament where both the tennis analyst will be a part of ESPN coverage.

While talking about the Australian tennis player at the time, the former American player remarked, “It’s frustrating to watch him.” to watch the tennis player’s talent go down the drain.

She added,“[He] brings talent to another level that we’ve never seen I don’t think, in the tennis world. But you can’t change DNA. You can’t change the wiring of somebody. This change has got to come within himself.” According to the former world number one, dedication comes within the tennis player to create their own name in the sport.

She also mentioned how the world number 22’s fans are impatiently awaiting him to demonstrate his passion for tennis at some time rather than himself. Not only that, but she believes Kyrgios is a ‘complicated guy’ and worried that he simply does not want to make a lot of sacrifices for his tennis career.

When Evert worried about Kyrgios’ on-court behavior?

Earlier this year, the six-time US Open champion shared her concerns about the 27-year-old tennis star and other promising young players. The tennis legend is concerned about the behavior of the tennis players. But more significantly, she is concerned with emotional breakdowns or leaving the tennis court in the middle of a match.

She added that she is not passing judgment on the tennis players, but that it is an issue. She also discussed the need to address losing control and breaking racquets on the tennis court. And suggested that players like Nick Kyrgios and Alexander Zverev refrain from acting in such aggressive ways.
