For the next two weeks, tennis fans will get to see some interesting tennis action on the singles court of Australian Open 2020. Alongside that, they’ll also get to see some doubles action from Nick Kyrgios and Amanda Anisimova from the same side of the court.

According to the reports, the top-seeded Aussie Kyrgios and the American teenage phenom Anisimova will be playing mixed doubles at the Melbourne major. It is the first time the two professionals are teaming up.

During the North American hard-court summer in 2019, Anisimova and Kyrgios were spotted practicing together. Off the court, they seem to be good mates as they frequently hang out together. 

Nick Kyrgios and Amanda Anisimova’s previous doubles ventures 

World Number 22 Anisimova has played a handful of tennis matches on the doubles courts of Grand Slams. She played doubles at Australian Open 2019, French Open 2019 and US Open 2017. She played mixed doubles at US Open 2017 and 2018. Out of all her participation, she could only win a doubles Grand Slam match in Paris. Kyrgios has also played doubles tennis at Slams. His best result came at the US Open 2016 where he reached the third round.

The Rally For Relief campaign for Australian bushfires, an exhibition match initiated by Nick Kyrgios raised nearly A $5 million. The global faces of the sport Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Serena Williams were present for the fund-raiser event in Melbourne.

“It’s amazing. I’ve had goosebumps when you said that number (4.8 million dollars). Everyone came together tonight. It’s just an amazing feeling. I’m just glad that we have this support. I really appreciate it and I’m sure that everyone involved, everyone losing their homes, losing their loved ones, they are going to appreciate that,” said Nick Kyrgios.

On the singles courts of Australian Open 2020, the crowd favorite’s tennis player Kyrgios will play on Tuesday. He will open against the Italian professional tennis player Lorenzo Sonego. If Kyrgios makes a deep-run in Melbourne he might set up a pre-quarterfinal match against the Spaniard Nadal.
