Many tennis players and athletes shared their excitement about the 2022 soccer World Cup on Twitter. Victoria Azarenka, the Belarusian tennis player, finally had the opportunity to watch her idol Lionel Messi play at the World Cup. However, she had hoped for a different outcome.

The Argentine tennis player, Diego Schwartzman, was also in the crowd to support his nation at the World Cup. Many tennis players were at the Lusail Stadium to support Lionel Messi and his team. Schwartzman was disappointed as Argentina suffered a shock 2-1 to minnow Saudi Arabia.

Azarenka and Schwartzman had traveled to Qatar to support Argentina at the World Cup. Azarenka, the former world number one, stated that it was her lifelong goal to see Messi play for Argentina. On her Twitter profile, she posted a picture of the stadium. She tweeted, “Been my life dream to see Messi play for🇦🇷 #WorldCup2022.”
