American tennis great Serena Williams has left a massive impact on the sport. Both Serena and Venus have done amazingly well in their careers. The one person who deserved credit for it is their father, Richard Williams. Recently, when Serena was playing her last US Open, Caroline Wozniacki explained the importance of Richard Williams’s role in his daughters’ success.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion made many youngsters believe they could achieve their dreams with proper application and guidance. Coming from a challenging background and a troubled neighborhood, she fought it all. Inside and outside the court, she kept fighting and winning.

Caroline Wozniacki praises Richard Williams

While Serena was playing her last US Open, Caroline Wozniacki sat down for a podcast. Wozniacki and Serena were on-court rivals and are best friends off the court. There’s no person better than her to explain how important the role of family has been in the development of Serena and Venus.

“Obviously, their parents were such great role models for them. The people that got both Serena and Venus into tennis… Having them, being there for them, taking them to the tennis court every day. Making them believe in themselves that it is possible and showing them the way,” she said.

Further, speaking about the role of their father Richard Williams, Wozniacki added, “Richard. Being who he is and being on court with the girls all the time, I think they wouldn’t be the women that they are today and it’s just great to see they just stayed so close and it’s amazing to have that family bond.”

Family definitely had an important role in the success of Serena and Venus. The way Serena and Venus kept their love intact, even when they were rivals, shows how good their upbringing has been.

Is Serena Williams coming back?

Serena Williams declared earlier this year that after the US Open, she will evolve away from tennis. The 41-year-old also said that the reason behind it is to spend more time with her family. However, there have been a few instances where the 23-time Grand Slam champion hinted at coming out of retirement.

Recently at an event in San Francisco, she said that she is not retired. Earlier, in a chat show, Serena lauded Tom Brady for coming out of retirement. All this might hint at a possible comeback.
