Just a few minutes after winning her first title as a mother, Serena Williams was swinging her tennis racquet on the doubles court alongside Caroline Wozniacki. It was Wozniacki’s penultimate tour-level match and she has one more tournament to go at the Australian Open.

Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki took on the Americans Taylor Townsend and Asia Muhammad in the finals of the ASB Classic in Auckland. They lost 6-4, 6-4 to the Americans. In the semifinals, the American-Danish duo knocked out the top-seeds Dolehide and Larsson in just 52 minutes.

Before the doubles final, Williams was triumphant on the singles court. In the post-match ceremony, Wozniacki took some credit for Serena’s win on the singles track. The doubles tennis alongside Caroline aided her to play well on the singles court.

“We have so much fun off the court and now on the court too. I’m so happy that I got to do this. I think I want to take a little credit for Serena winning singles! Because I think the doubles helped her,” Wozniacki shared. Serena was standing just beside her and she said, “I agree, I agree” laughingly.

It was the second time in Serena’s career that she played two finals in a tournament and she didn’t win both of them. Williams moves one spot higher on the ranking scale. she will be ranked World Number nine on WTA’s singles roster on Monday.

In both the sets, the American-Danish pair made a strong start. Townsend and Muhammad were playing a dominant game on the net. Williams and Wozniacki trailed by a break at 3-2 in the second set. With the American duo consolidating their serve they lead by 4-2. Later, they served out to love to clinch their title.
