In the women’s singles final of the US Open, American phenom Coco Gauff upset Belarusian star Aryna Sabalenka. In contrast, Novak Djokovic defeated Daniil Medvedev in the men’s singles. While both contests drew a large audience, Gauff’s performance outshone Djokovic’s victory. The battle between the 19-year-old Gauff and the 25-year-old Sabalenka drew 3.4 million spectators from the United States.

In comparison, Djokovic’s victory over Russian sensation Medvedev attracted 2.3 million spectators. The disparity in viewership was a staggering 1.1 million. The difference showed how fans are being attracted to different divisions of the show over time.
