Ever since the conclusion of the highly anticipated championship match between the LSU Tigers and Iowa Hawkeyes, there were a lot of controversies surrounding it. It is Louisiana State University’s star, Angel Reese, who has become a contentious subject for the sporting community. She was under the spotlight after the epic showdown of the NCAA basketball tournament.
After making a taunting gesture toward her opponent, the American college basketball player has once again made headlines for another controversial move. The 20-year-old LSU athlete has received a lot of criticism after she declined the customary invitation from the First Lady of the US, Jill Biden, to visit the White House. Amidst all the controversies, it is Serena Williams’ nephew, Jair Bobbitt, who has come forward to defend her decision.

Serena Williams’ nephew, Jair Bobbitt, shows his support to the LSU player
It is a customary tradition of inviting the champions of the NCAA tournament to the White House in order to meet the president. However, the First Lady of the US, Jill Biden recently said that it would be great if the runners-up of the tournament would also join them during the customary meet. Biden’s controversial remarks about inviting the players of Iowa Hawkeyes were intended to applaud the historic game between female athletes.
However, those comments did not impress Louisiana State University’s star, Angel Reese. She later declined Biden’s apology for inviting the opponent team’s players. The 20-year-old college player also said that she would rather go to meet the former president, Barack Obama. Reese was already embroiled in a series of controversies after she made a taunting “you can’t see me” gesture on her opponent’s face.

Now, once again, the LSU star became a contentious topic for the entire basketball community after she declined the White House invitation. Taking note of her controversial decision, Serena Williams’ nephew, Jair Bobbitt, took to his Instagram story to showcase his support for the American college player.
He said, “I like her. We need more black athletes to be willing to speak out like this! They treat athletes like slaves fr”

Williams’ husband recently backed the LSU player’s actions
Apart from her nephew, the American tennis legend’s husband Alexis Ohanian also defended Reese’s actions, which were met with a lot of criticism. The American internet entrepreneur took to his Twitter to label the backlash as an act of hypocrisy. He named another college athlete, Joe Burrow, who made similar gestures.

However, the LSU quarterback hardly faced any criticism from the basketball community. Taking note, Ohanian expressed his frustrations over the hypocrisy of the fans.
