Caroline Wozniacki married former NBA star David Lee in 2019, a year before her retirement. Lee is a former NBA Finals winner and two-time All-Star who played for the Golden State Warriors. He was born in the Missouri city of St. Louis. Lee, who was born left-handed, became essentially ambidextrous after breaking his left arm and learning to play right-handed.

Lee was a McDonald’s All-American who won the Slam Dunk competition in 2001. He started his NBA career with the New York Knicks in 2005. In 2010, he joined the Golden State Warriors, where he won a championship. Lee has also played for the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs. He ended his career with the Spurs in 2017.

Love story and relationship timeline

The couple began dating sometime in late 2016 or early 2017. Wozniacki took to social media on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2017, to make her relationship public with the former NBA star. The relationship was later verified by her family. On November 2, 2017, the pair announced their engagement.

On June 16, 2019, they exchanged wedding vows at the Castiglion del Bosco resort in Montalcino in Tuscany. The wedding was attended by several notable figures. Serena Williams was one of the bridesmaids, along with Angelique Kerber, Agnieszka Radwanska, and Urszula Radwanska, and the event was attended by noteworthy celebrities.

Support system and career impact

Wozniacki’s return became big news for the player and her family. Along with supporting her family, she has now decided to step into professional tennis once again. However, she couldn’t have done it without a great support system. Her husband and her family are motivating her further to make sure she comes back with a bang.

“It’s certainly not easy to find the right balance—and I’m so lucky to have a supportive husband, supportive parents, and the help of a nanny—but I think it’s possible. I want to prove that to myself and those women,” Caroline said. Wozniacki joyfully announced on her Instagram account on February 10, 2021, that she and David were expecting their first child. It was a baby girl who was due in June of that year. Wozniacki gave birth to her daughter, Olivia Wozniacki Lee, on June 11, 2021.

Continuing their adventure as parents, Wozniacki announced on her Instagram account on June 19, 2022, that she was expecting their second child. This great news was immediately followed by the birth of their son, James Wozniacki Lee, on October 24, 2022.

Despite being a mother of two, the Danish superstar has decided to challenge herself by entering into the WTA Tour. Will she be successful in her second, and arguably, the most challenging stint of her career? Only time will tell.
