Gauff rose to fame when in 2019, she defeated top-tier player Venus Williams in the first round of Wimbledon. She gained a huge amount of popularity following that. In an interview in 2019, she detailed the anecdote. She said, “Actually my parents told me to babysit my brothers. They didn’t tell me where they were going.” To her surprise, the truth came uncovered when she went on Facebook.

She said, “Then I see on Facebook that they’re at the Beyonce and Jay-Z concert. I was so mad.” And a true Beyonce fan could not give up so easily, so she persisted. She said, “I told them I wanted to go. They’re like, “We’ll be back in a couple hours.” But what followed was even more betraying for the young fan. She said, “Then I see on Facebook they’re in Miami at Beyonce and Jay-Z.”
