21-Year-Old Ukrainian WTA Star Dayana Yastremska Forced to Evacuate After Spending Nights in Parking Lot

Outside world situations do affect player’s life and sporting events in general. We had experienced one in 2020 when the pandemic situation shut down ATP events including Wimbledon, for 5 months. Now people and Tennis Players in Ukraine are facing another mammoth issue at their doorstep. 21-year old Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska shared her personal experience on her Instagram account.
Former world no. 21 avoided her qualifier match in Qatar Open and opted to stay with the family in a tense situation. But as per her information and photos shared, she and her little sister Ivanna are leaving the country upon family decision.
“After spending two nights in the underground parking ,my parents made a decision at any cost to send me and my little sister out of Ukraine! Mom, Dad ,we love you very much, take care of yourself!!! I love you my country! Ukrainians take care of your lives,” Dayana wrote on Instagram.

She posted that her family was undercover for the last 2 days in underground parking. But the situation didn’t get any smoother and finally, her parents decided to send her along with her sister. She wished the best for her parents and the fellow countrymen. Heavy-hearted Dayana ended the post with heart and worried emojis.

She also shared a worrisome video of other people leaving the country.

Dayana Yastremska is looking to make her mark on the 2022 WTA tour
2016 Australian Open Juniors’ debutant was set up against Romanian Jacqueline Cristian in the Qatar Open qualifying match. After her 1st round loss in the 2022 Australian Open, she did play in Dubai Championship. But Dayana lost in the quarterfinals of Czech international Vondrousova.

She did manage some great advancements in Grand Slams reaching last-16 in French Open and reaching the round of 32 in hard court Grand Slams in 2019.
