Further, her nightmare almost became a reality when her pulmonary embolism, like the one that she suffered in 2011, resurfaced during childbirth. She had to opt for a C-section and the situation was critical. Similar to Serena, her best friend and world-renowned popstar Beyonce went through a phase that threatened her child’s life. Here’s what she had to say about the same.
Beyonce and Williams both went through a scary labor
Both Williams and Beyonce survived a potentially fatal childbirth. “My health and my babies’ health were in danger, so I had an emergency C-section,” Beyonce disclosed while in an interview with Vogue in 2018.

Thereafter, she added, “We spent many weeks in the NICU,” referring to a neonatal intensive care unit. “I was in survival mode and did not grasp it all until months later. Today I have a connection to any parent who has been through such an experience.” Beyonce gave birth to her twins Rumi and Sir in June 2017.
Beyonce suffered from toxemia during labor, a condition that causes high blood pressure and serve organ damage. The only cure for toxemia is delivering the child. Therefore, the singer had to opt for a C-section.
